Our Purpose

Walking alongside people towards positive change

MahiPlus exists to strengthen individuals, whānau, and communities by creating opportunities for growth, confidence, and connection.

Our kaupapa is grounded in manaakitanga, dignity, inclusion, and trust. We understand that employment journeys are not always straightforward, and that confidence, wellbeing, identity, and practical support all play an important role in helping people move forward.

We work alongside people from all walks of life — supporting them to:

  • Build confidence and self-belief

  • Develop practical employment skills

  • Strengthen communication and workplace readiness

  • Reconnect with their strengths and aspirations

  • Prepare for interviews and opportunities

  • Feel empowered in how they present themselves to the world

At MahiPlus, we see people beyond their circumstances. We focus on potential, possibilities, and creating pathways that lead to meaningful outcomes.

About MahiPlus

MahiPlus is proudly delivered by Dress for Success Northland, an incorporated society that has been supporting individuals and whānau across Te Tai Tokerau for over two decades.

While MahiPlus officially launched in 2026, the foundations of the programme have been more than 20 years in the making. MahiPlus evolved from the personalised career support, confidence-building, and employment preparation services established through Dress for Success Northland since its formation in 2002.

Built on the experiences of our on-site career practitioners, MahiPlus was designed to provide holistic, people-centred pathways into meaningful employment and positive life outcomes.

In 2026, the organisation was given the opportunity to bring the full vision of MahiPlus to life. The successful delivery and development of the programme has been strongly supported by the leadership, dedication, and advocacy of their Board and Executive Manager Roimata Hawke (pictured centre), whose commitment to community self-determination continues to shape the kaupapa and future of MahiPlus.
